Gissaan Diagnostic Medical Center limited is registered in the Gambia as a private commercial medical diagnostic company. In the development of every nation, health is given a particular emphasis and focus. Therefore, the availability of adequate, guaranteed, reliable and efficient health delivery system is required. Health availability of every nation is driven by a well-structured health system and a proper service delivery system. Health as mentioned is an important component of every developed or developing nation.\u00a0 The health delivery system of every nation is composed of different aspects and the key among them is the diagnostics or medical diagnostic services. Every successful treatment of any case stems out from a very structured and efficient medical diagnostic service.<\/p>

The Gambia is a small developing country in the western part of Africa. Like every developing country, The Gambia is doing a lot in trying to strengthen its health care system in all aspects. One area that requires a lot of reforms is the medical diagnostic service. The country has few hospitals and a main teaching hospital situated at the capital, Banjul. This hospital serves as the main referral hospital in The Gambia and it\u2019s expected to be the most equipped hospital in the country. Contrary to this fact, the teaching hospital housing most of the trained personnel and better equipment experiences a lot of problems in terms of timely, rapid and accurate diagnosis. This problem stems from lack of modern and adequate diagnostic equipment and therefore a lot of the medical diagnostics cannot be done in the various government hospitals around the country. With this situation, a lot of patients will go out to seek these diagnostic services at the private facilities or the neighboring countries. The private laboratory facilities are sometimes faced with lack of proper equipment and medical laboratory supplies thereby unable to carry some of the lab investigations sent to them from the main hospitals.<\/p>

Patient care cannot be efficient without an appropriate medical diagnosis. In this vein, Gissaan diagnostic medical center wishes to play its part in delivering affordable, reliable, timely and accurate diagnostic services to The Gambian people and its neighbors where possible. The medical center is going to generate income in its totality and also meet the requirements to participate in strengthening and providing reliable and efficient diagnostic results to patients.\u00a0 Medical diagnostic service in The Gambia has its challenges and this commercial medical diagnostic center to be opened will do its best to put up solutions to some of the existing problems as below;<\/p>

      • Provide reliable, efficient, accurate and timely diagnostic results.<\/li>
      • The medical diagnostic center will in its mandate generate income to help in its sustenance.<\/li>
      • The medical center will put up a sustainable network with other health institutions (clinics, labs, hospitals and pharmacies) so as to improve the diagnostic process in The Gambia.<\/li>
      • Capacity building is key in achieving the aims an objective of the lab so therefore, the lab will play its role in recruiting and training its staff.<\/li><\/ul>
